A Taste of Thailand

I had the privelege of visiting Dayton & Erin, Grace, and Isaiah this Christmas and had a wonderful time! They took me to Chang Rhi, in the northern mountains of Thailand to stay a few days with a missionary couple there. I even rode on an elephant! Grace rode on the elephant too, and wasn't scared a bit! We rode on a river speed boat too! We went up to the 74th floor of Bankok's tallest hotel and that's where I took the pictures of Bankok's buildings and roads. We went to numerous little shops and passed by road-side vendors. Many things were a lot cheaper there--a MacDonald's cheese burger was only about 32 cents! I guess that's why there were a lot of tourists vacationing there--your money goes further over there. We also went to two old palaces where past Kings and Queens had lived. Thailand still has a King, which is unique. I even got some souvenirs.
God kept us safe throughout our travels, and all the praise belongs to Him!

Here are some pictures from when I went snorkling and
spearfishing with the guys--at night:
We used flashlights and Hawaiian sling fish spears, which have a 3-pronged
spear at one end and an elastic band fastened to the other end,
which can be stretched and held and then released when pointed
at a fish so the spear will shoot forward up to 6 feet to spear the fish
you're going for. I missed several fish,
but with some practice, I got the hang of it.
I got one little red snapper--that was exciting!
Actually, I speared two, but one slipped off the stringer and got away.
The experienced fishermen got the rest of the catch!

Kesley glad to see the beach again!

The musicians

Me & the boys

The fishermen return!

Parrot fish, lobster, and octopus in the cooler:

Here's a beautiful rainbow taken the next morning--actually
two rainbows, if you look closely--declaring God's glory and
His promise.

That's all for now. Until next time,
may God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand,
-Charles

Pictures

This is my roomate on the left
and Kesley on the right--the guy who took us out there.

This is a group of teachers and Micronesians that I went hiking with to Sella bay, where we went snorkling.

Beautiful hilly views... And beaches.

Kesley (L) and another Micronesian (R).

Kesley is the most friendly Christian micronesian I've met here and he said he would take me out to the beach or spearfishing whenever I wanted to go!
When my schedule allows it, I'll have to go again!
